Relackout

Relackout vs DMXIS

DMXIS is discontinued lighting software and usb hardware for live performers and daw integration.

Feature comparison

Legacy software was unlocked by the DMXIS hardware interface. Hardware manufacture and active software development have ended; there is no current official new-product price. ENTTEC stopped issuing unlock codes in 2026; consult the developer for existing activation options. [1]

Where Relackout leads

  • Build music playback and lighting timelines inside Relackout without a separate DAW or Show Buddy product.
  • Use a currently supported native macOS workflow in Relackout instead of relying on legacy DMXIS builds.
  • Run Relackout on Linux.
  • Choose monthly, yearly or lifetime licensing in Relackout, with a 14-day free trial.

Where DMXIS is strong

  • The VST/AU workflow integrates lighting programming into a performer's audio host.
  • Its dedicated interface supports footswitch-driven preset stepping.

Which fits your show?

Club or bar

Relackout

For a new installation, Relackout avoids discontinued hardware and activation dependencies.

DJ set

Both

Existing DAW-controlled DMXIS shows may be worth retaining; Relackout offers a standalone music workflow.

Theatre

Relackout

Relackout adds integrated preview, notes and a current desktop workflow for small productions.

House of worship

Both

Retain a working footswitch show if it serves the team; assess Relackout's combined workflow for new shows.

Events venue

Relackout

Relackout is the more practical starting point for new multi-venue desktop setups.

Touring / large rig

Both

DMXIS is a legacy performer tool, not a large touring-console alternative; assess a console ecosystem.

Switching guide

In DMXIS In Relackout
DMXIS fixture definitions Rebuild Patch & Fixture Setup with OFL definitions or custom fixtures.
Banks and presets Recreate looks in Scene Designer and order them in Cue lists.
Oscillators and Sound Tracker Recreate movement in Effect Wizard and audio response in Sound-to-Light.
DAW automation or Show Buddy Rebuild song events in Show Timeline with audio from Music Library.
Footswitch and MIDI Learn Use supported MIDI input mappings and test cue stepping in Live Control.

What carries over

Use your fixture addresses, channel modes, cue order and design notes as references for manual setup.

What to rebuild

Relackout does not import DMXIS show files. Rebuild looks, timing and controls; only fixture definitions in Open Fixture Library format can be imported.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still activate a new DMXIS installation?

ENTTEC says its unlock system has shut down. The software developer directs users needing codes to a separate support article; verify activation before relying on a fresh installation.

Will Relackout drive my blue DMXIS box directly?

That is not established by Relackout's feature contract. Use a supported interface or network output; do not assume DMXIS is Open DMX compatible.

Can I import DMXIS banks into Relackout?

No. Rebuild the presets and cue order. Show Buddy Active's documented DMXIS import does not imply Relackout supports it.
