Groups

Create fixture groups, edit their name and color, select them live with one click and delete them in the Demo Venue rig.

Chapters

Instead of clicking every fixture you control together one by one, you can collect them into a group and select the whole set with a single badge. The Demo Venue rig already ships with two groups: “All PARs” covers the six PARs, and “Spots” covers the two moving heads. This guide walks through using an existing group live, creating a new one, editing its name and color, and deleting it.

Open the Fixture Control screen

  1. Open Fixture Control from the home screen.

Fixture Control screen with the Controls tab open; the Patched devices list shows nine rows, none checked.
  2. Switch to the Stage Layout tab.

Stage Layout tab; the group bar shows All PARs (6) and Spots (2) badges, nine fixture nodes on the canvas.

Use an existing group live

  1. Click the Spots badge.

Spots badge clicked; a 2 fixtures selected label appears, the two spot nodes on the canvas are highlighted with a selection ring.
  2. Hold Shift and click the All PARs badge.

8 fixtures selected label; six PARs and two spots are now all highlighted together, the strobe is not selected.
  3. Switch back to Controls; drag the Intensity fader up.

Fixture Control panel, Intensity fader raised under the Common tab; eight boxes checked in the list on the left.
  4. Switch back to Stage Layout; click Clear selection.

Group bar; no badge is highlighted, the fixtures-selected label is gone.

Create a new group

The ninth fixture in the Demo Venue rig — the Strobe — isn’t in any group yet. Let’s give it one.

  1. In the Controls tab, in the Patched devices list, check only the Strobe box.

Patched devices list; only the Strobe row's box is checked, the other eight are unchecked.
  2. Switch to Stage Layout; click Create group.

Group bar with the name field and color palette open; the selection counter shows 1.
  3. Type “Strobe” into Enter group name; pick the red swatch from the color palette.

Name field reads Strobe, the red color swatch is selected with a white border.
  4. Click Save.

New Strobe (1) badge with a red dot appears next to the All PARs and Spots badges.

Edit a group’s name and color

  1. Double-click the new Strobe badge.

The badge is replaced by an edit box: name field filled with Strobe, color palette, Save and Cancel buttons.
  2. Add ” Unit” to the end of the name so it reads “Strobe Unit”; pick a different color (purple); click Save.

Badge now reads Strobe Unit (1) with a purple dot.

Delete a group

  1. Click the close (✕) icon next to the Strobe Unit badge.

Group bar; the Strobe Unit badge is gone, only the All PARs and Spots badges remain.

What’s next

The groups you set up here aren’t limited to Fixture Control: the Effect Wizard’s fixture selection screen uses the same group bar, so “All PARs,” “Spots,” and the group you just created can be picked by badge there too. To go deeper on patching itself, see Patching and the address map.
