In Show Timeline, place scenes, cues and blackouts on a song's waveform, set fades, preview and save the show.
In Show Timeline, every show belongs to a song: you line up scene, cue and blackout events on that song’s time axis, and each one fires right on time while the song plays. In this guide you’ll create a show, read its waveform to add your first event, discover that scenes stack and add an Off event, place a cue on the drop, build a Blackout on/off pair, and save the show so it’s ready to play live.
Read the song before you place any light. The waveform shows you the way: an intro up to 0:07.7, then a thinning break, and at 0:15.5 it suddenly gets thick — that’s the drop.

Click the ruler around 0:12; the playhead jumps there. Press Space, listen until you hear the drop (~0:18), press Space again.
An event has five parts: Time (s), Type, Target, Level, and Fade ms, which only shows for the Scene type. There are three types: turn a scene on or off, start or stop a cue, or black out everything.

Click Stop; the playhead returns to 0:00.0. Click the “Add at 0:00.0” hint button.
Playback doesn’t depend on the screen: leave the Show Timeline screen for any other screen, and the show keeps playing. Add a Show Timeline widget to a panel, and you can start and stop the show with one tap from Live Control, and scrub the progress bar to jump anywhere in the song — it works the same way on a touchscreen and over remote access. We covered adding this widget to a panel in Mixer designer.
What’s next
You’ve now read a song’s waveform to place scene, cue and blackout events, smoothed them with fades, fixed things by ear, and saved a show that’s ready to play live with one tap. Use the same method to add as many events as you need to build out the rest of a show. Next up: 3D stage preview, watching this show without a rig.
