Chapters

Just installed Relackout and haven’t patched a single fixture yet? No problem. This guide uses the guided setup’s practice without hardware path to take you from patching your first fixture to recalling a Scene live, in five steps. Practice mode turns off physical outputs, but the fixture, patch, Scene, and panel you create are saved in your project for real.

Start the guided setup from Settings

  1. Open Settings from the home screen.

Settings screen with no guide banner yet; the Start guided setup button is visible.
  2. Click Start guided setup.

The guided setup welcome dialog with two option cards: I have lighting hardware and Practice without hardware.
  3. In the dialog that opens, choose Practice without hardware.

Settings screen with the guided setup panel highlighted on the right at 0/5 progress; the practice mode banner is visible at the top.

Step 1 · Patch your first fixture

  1. Click Take me there in the guide panel; in the Library — Select device panel, open the Demo Venue folder and pick LED PAR RGBW.

The Patch screen with the Demo Venue folder open in the library on the left, LED PAR RGBW selected and the Add to patch form open in the middle.
  2. Type “Front 1” into Patch name, type 1 into Start address.

Filled patch form: Patch name Front 1, Start address 1; no mode list (single-mode fixture).
  3. Click Add to patch.

    New row in the Patched Fixtures table: 001 - 005 · Front 1 · 5 CH.

Step 2 · Make the light respond

The guide doesn’t advance on its own here; it waits for you to confirm that you can see the light respond.

  1. Click Take me there in the guide panel; drag the Intensity fader up and pick the warm preset color (Warm white).

Fixture Control screen with the Intensity fader raised (217) and the Warm white preset color selected.
  2. Click Yes, I can see the values in the guide panel.

Guide panel showing the confirmation question and the Yes, I can see the values button.

Step 3 · Save your first Scene

  1. Click Record in the top bar, then + Step once.

Record tool active in the top bar: red recording indicator and a 1 step counter.
  2. Click the check-mark (✓) save icon in the record tool; in the Save recording dialog that opens, type “Warm White” into Name.

Save recording dialog; 'Save as scene (1 step).' note, Name field filled with Warm White.

Step 4 · Add a Scene button

  1. Click Save in the dialog. Click Take me there in the guide panel, then click New layout and type “Main Panel” into the name field in the top bar.

Mixer Layout Designer screen; the layout name field in the top bar filled with Main Panel, empty canvas.
  2. In the click-to-add list at the bottom of the left panel, click Button; it lands on the canvas, selected.

New Button widget on the canvas with a selection outline; the Properties panel open on the right.
  3. In the Properties panel, pick “Warm White” from the Scene list (Button action is already “Scene”); then type “Warm White” into Button text.

Properties panel: Scene selection Warm White, Button text Warm White.

Step 5 · Recall it live

  1. Click Save in the top bar, then Use in Live.

Live Control screen open with the Main Panel layout; the Warm White button is visible, not yet pressed.
  2. Click the “Warm White” button. The Scene goes to output, the guide completes and the Practice complete card opens with Finish highlighted — that’s next. The Start hardware setup button on the card is for when you’re ready for real hardware.

Practice complete card with the Finish button highlighted, a 'Ready to connect real hardware?' box and the Start hardware setup button.
  3. Click Finish in the completion dialog.

Live Control screen; the Warm White button shows as active (pressed), guide panel closed.

What’s next

You’ve now patched a fixture in practice mode, saved a Scene, and recalled it live from a panel button. Click Switch to hardware in the top bar whenever you’re ready to switch to real hardware — your fixture, patch, Scene, and panel stay exactly as you left them. Up next: A tour of the interface.
