Copying between workspaces
Move a mixer, Scenes and patches to another workspace with the copy wizard — different addresses are no problem, in four steps.
Built a mixer or some Scenes for one venue and want them in another workspace? As you saw on the Workspaces page, each workspace keeps its own patch map — but the copy wizard moves the items you pick along with their patches, even when the target uses different addresses. This guide walks the wizard’s four steps end to end, copying a mixer from Demo Venue into Studio B.
Two ways to open the copy wizard
You can open the wizard from two places. First: the actions icon next to any item — a mixer, a Scene, a cue stack — which opens the wizard with that item already checked. Second: the Manage workspaces screen, from a workspace card’s menu — this opens the wizard with every item pre-checked, and you uncheck what you don’t need. This guide follows the first route, through the Main Panel mixer.
Worth knowing the second route too: reach the Manage workspaces screen as described on the Workspaces page, then pick “Copy…” from a card’s actions menu.
Step 1 · Direction & items
You didn’t check those — they’re linked items. Every button and fader on Main Panel points straight at a Scene or a cue stack; the wizard follows those links and includes them automatically, noting why under each one. Open the Patch tab and you’ll see all nine patches checked the same way — this time the reason names the Scene or cue stack that uses it, since every Scene carries the patches its values apply to. If you truly don’t want a linked item, uncheck it; the wizard will flag that reference as left unlinked in the review step.
Connection settings — a note about overwriting
This tab lists the connection setting groups saved in the source workspace — here Demo Venue only has Art-Net; in a workspace where you’ve saved sACN, USB DMX, MIDI feedback, OSC or remote access settings, those show up here too. A group you select replaces all of that group’s settings in the target workspace. We cover these groups in depth on the Connection settings page; here we leave Art-Net unchecked.
Step 2 · Patch mapping
There are three options for each patch. Map: if a compatible patch exists in the target, the wizard suggests it — here Spot Left is mapped automatically to a patch of the same name already sitting in Studio B. Create new: if the target has no patch for this fixture, pick an address and the wizard creates one. Skip: if you genuinely don’t need that fixture in the target, choose it; references tied to that patch get flagged as unlinked in the next step.
Step 3 · Review and copy
Because you skipped Strobe, the four Scenes and two cue stacks that carried a value for it are listed under references that will be left unlinked here — the copy still goes through, this is just letting you know they’re no longer tied to that channel in the target.
Copy complete
No confirmation dialog appeared here, because nothing was live — the switch happened right away. We covered what happens when output is active, and the app restart that follows, on the tour of the interface page, so we don’t repeat it here.
What’s next
You can now move a mixer, its linked Scenes and cue stacks, and their patches into another workspace — choosing between mapping, creating new patches or skipping along the way. Up next: Connection settings and Backup and export.
